Breathing Drills for Runners – Crawling for Runners – Turkish Getup for Runners
This is a discussion between Sarah Young and Gabe Skinner, who both do bodywork as well as training runners. Three of their go-to drills are breathing, crawling and training the getup for runners, and in this talk they’ll tell you why those work so well for all of us, but especially for runners.
“We were talking about the cross-patterning and what I think it can offer runners. During going from post to elbow in the getup, you’re connecting one glute to the contralateral lat as you push off the foot and pull yourself up onto the elbow. We see that connection in crawling. If you’re crawling well, you’re probably walking well. If you’re walking well, it’s possible for you to run well. You’re creating the foundation upon which running can be built.” ~Gabe Skinner
