How to Relieve Chronic Golf Pain – How Long Does Pain Last? – Golfing with Pain
Tom Patrick is a golf professional– Golf Professional of the Year in 2007 — who played and traveled and worked in chronic pain for nearly 40 years. In this lecture, he tells his story of hope, describes How To Relieve Chronic Golf Pain and discusses the changes he made to pull himself out of long-term back pain.
“What I found was that a lot of things I’d been told to do were putting me in a flexion position, which was exactly why my back wasn’t getting any better. The sciatica was worse. I was just totally frustrated and didn’t know where else to turn.
“Little did I know that would start a journey that would last for 35 years. Little also did I know that golf was one of the worst things you can do for a problem back, especially the lumbar area, in swinging at speeds of up to 120 miles an hour. But it was a good opportunity to create a career, and that’s what I did.” ~Tom Patrick
