Pain Tolerance in Manual Therapy – Manual Therapy Techniques – Pain in Physical Therapy

In this lecture (The Manual Therapy Techniques), Charlie Weingroff is joined by Patrick Ward in a discussion on the goal of manual therapy, and its effect on threat perception. They specifically cover discomfort in therapy, and when and how much pain is tolerable under different circumstances.

“If you use manual therapy and go directly to conditioning, the window might be open. But there’s not a lot of evidence to support these being long-term changes because you only changed the tissue. The intervention in the motor cortex of the brain was not part of that process.” ~Charlie Weingroff
